ANOTHER PLANT TIP
It's bound to happen to at least one of you - rain before you get your native grasses planted.
If this does happen and you want to have a better stand of native grass don't plant or finish planting without breaking the rain formed crust first. For some reason native grasses planted into a prepared seedbed with a rain formed crust don't do as well compared to those planted into a fresh seedbed. I can't offer an explanation as to why this happens but I can show you the results if you disbelieve.
Native grass plants from which the seed was planted into a crust will be much thinner, sparsely spaced.
